The Agonist è stato un gruppo musicale deathcore canadese originario di Montreal, attivo dal 2004 al 2019. Conosciuti per il loro sound aggressivo e le melodie intricate, hanno raggiunto una certa popolarità nel panorama metal underground. Il gruppo ha attraversato diverse fasi compositive, passando da sonorità più brutali a un approccio più melodicamente orientato. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Lullabies for the Dormant Mind", "The Chain" e "My Darkest Days". Nel 2019, dopo quindici anni di attività, The Agonist ha annunciato la propria scioglimento.
