Bobby Womack (Robert Dwayne Womack) è stato un cantautore e chitarrista statunitense, considerato uno dei pilastri del soul e dell'R and B. Nato a Cleveland, Ohio, nel 1944, iniziò la sua carriera musicale all'età di 10 anni come membro della band familiare, The Womack Family Singers. Dopo aver raggiunto il successo con i suoi primi album negli anni '60, Bobby Womack ha consolidato la sua fama negli anni '70 e '80 con brani soul influenzati dal funk e dalla musica rock. Tra le sue canzoni più famose figurano "Across 110th Street", "If You Think You're Lonely Now" e "Lookin' for a Love". Womack ha collaborato con artisti di spicco come Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones e Damon Albarn dei Gorillaz. La sua musica è stata influenzata da diverse culture musicali, dal gospel al blues, passando per il jazz e la musica classica. Bobby Womack è morto nel 2014 a Los Angeles, lasciando un'eredità musicale di grande valore.
