Mobb Deep è stato un duo hip hop statunitense formato dai rapper Havoc (Jason Irvine) e Prodigy (Albert Johnson). Attivi dal 1990 fino alla morte di Prodigy nel 2017, sono considerati pilastri della Golden Era dell'East Coast hip hop. Il loro stile musicale è caratterizzato da testi cuciti con realismo crudo sulla vita nelle strade di Queensbridge, New York, e produzioni dark e atmosferiche. Il loro album di debutto *Juvenile Hell* (1993) ha introdotto il mondo al loro sound distintivo. Tuttavia, è stato il secondo album, *The Infamous* (1995), a consacrarli come icone del genere. Con brani come «Shook Ones (Part II)» e «Survival of the Fittest», Mobb Deep hanno definito l'estetica sonora dell'East Coast hip hop degli anni '90. Dopo *The Infamous*, il duo ha continuato a pubblicare album di successo, tra cui *Hell on Earth* (1996) e *Murda Muzik* (2000). Prodigy ha anche intrapreso una carriera solista, pubblicando diversi album. La morte prematura di Prodigy nel 2017 ha segnato la fine di Mobb Deep, lasciando un vuoto nel panorama hip hop.
