Mercury Rev è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi alla fine degli anni ottanta a New York. Considerati uno dei gruppi di rock psichedelico più importanti degli anni novanta, hanno contribuito in modo significativo allo sviluppo del dream pop, dopo una fase iniziale caratterizzata da sonorità dissonanti. Il loro sound si distingue per l'uso di arrangiamenti orchestrali e la presenza di elementi folk e classici. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Holes", "The Aftermath" e "Goddess on a Wire". L'album di debutto, "Yerself Is Steam", risale al 1991, mentre il loro lavoro più celebre è considerato "Deserter's Songs" del 1998. Il gruppo ha collaborato con artisti come Lou Reed e David Byrne.
