Conception è una band di power/progressive metal proveniente da Raufoss, in Norvegia. Attiva dal 1989 al 2003 e poi riunita nel 2017, la band ha pubblicato sei album in studio, combinando influenze progressive con elementi melodici e vocali operistiche. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da riff pesanti, melodie intricate e un'atmosfera epica. Il cantante Roy Khan, noto per il suo ampio range vocale e le performance teatrali, è stato un elemento chiave del successo della band. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "In This Dark Eternity", "The Mystic" e "Return to Forever". L'album di debutto "Into the Deep" (1990) ha segnato l'inizio di una carriera promettente, mentre "Flow" (1997) è considerato uno dei loro lavori più influenti. Dopo la pausa nel 2003, Roy Khan ha proseguito la sua carriera solista, mentre i membri rimanenti hanno collaborato con altri artisti. Nel 2017, Conception si è riunita per un tour e ha pubblicato il nuovo album "State of Deception".
