Raunchy è una band danese di metal thrash formatasi ad Aarhus nel 1992 da Jesper Tilsted, Jesper Kvist e Morten Toft Hansen. Inizialmente si dedicavano a cover di Metallica e Slayer. Nel 1994 Lars Vognstrup e Lars Christensen entrano a far parte del gruppo. Nel 1995 registrano il loro primo demo presso gli Studios Borsing di Aarhus, con il brano "Space Story" incluso nella compilation Extremity Rising vol. 1. Dopo altri due demo (con ulteriori brani inclusi in Extremity Rising), nel 2000 Raunchy firma un contratto con Drug(s), etichetta discografica del gruppo Mighty Music. Nel 2001 pubblicano l'album di debutto "Velvet Noise", prodotto da Jacob Hansen, che riceve ottimi riscontri dalla critica scandinava. Jeppe Christensen si unisce alla band dopo il rilascio dell'album.
