Nightwish è un gruppo musicale symphonic metal finlandese formatosi nel 1996 a Kitee. Considerati uno dei pionieri del genere, hanno raggiunto fama internazionale grazie alla combinazione di heavy metal con elementi classici, orchestrali e gotici. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da melodie epiche, testi spesso ispirati a temi fantasy e mitologici, e la potente voce operistica di Floor Jansen (dal 2012), che ha sostituito Tarja Turunen dopo un periodo di controversie interne. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Nemo", "Wish I Had An Angel" e "The Islander". L'album "Once" (2004) è considerato uno dei loro lavori più importanti, raggiungendo il successo internazionale. Il gruppo ha collaborato con numerosi artisti, tra cui l'orchestra finlandese e il compositore Tuomas Holopainen, che ne è anche il principale autore. Nightwish continua ad essere una delle band symphonic metal più influenti al mondo.
