Emmylou Harris è una cantautrice statunitense nata in Alabama nel 1947. Considerata una delle figure più influenti della musica country degli anni '70 e successivi, ha saputo combinare elementi folk, country e rock in un sound unico. La sua carriera musicale ha preso una svolta importante nel 1971 quando Chris Hillman, membro dei Byrds e dei Flying Burrito Band, l'ha presentata a Gram Parsons, pioniere del country-rock. Harris ha collaborato con Parsons per il suo album di debutto *GP* e per il successivo *Grievous Angel*, considerato uno dei capolavori del genere. Dopo la tragica morte di Parsons nel 1973, Harris ha continuato a insegnare una carriera di successo, pubblicando numerosi album di grande successo, tra cui *Pieces of the Sky* (1975), *Luxury Liner* (1977) e *White Flowers* (1981). Tra i suoi brani più rappresentativi si ricordano *Boulder to Birmingham*, *Red Dirt Girl* e *The Maker*. Emmylou Harris è stata insignita di numerosi premi, tra cui 14 Grammy Awards.
