Long Island alt-rock band Brand New released their debut album Your Favorite Weapon in 2001 to mixed reviews from critics. However, it was enough to earn them support slots on tours with bands like Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday and Incubus. Deja Entendu (French for "heard before") followed in 2003, and was generally better received. It was considered a more mature album than the debut, which had been dismissed by some as typical emo fare. The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me was released in 2006, and helped to further establish Brand New's reputation. The album release was followed by TV appearances and a world tour, earning the group higher visibility in the international music press. Brand New are currently planning a fourth album.
