The Dear Hunter è un progetto musicale full-time di Casey Crescenzo, ex membro della band post-hardcore The Receiving End of Sirens. Il sound del gruppo non è dissimile da quello della precedente formazione di Crescenzo, ma con tendenze più alternative e progressive rock, oltre a una varietà più ampia di strumenti musicali. Crescenzo ha definito il progetto come un "concept album in continua evoluzione", con ogni album che rappresenta un capitolo di una storia narrativa complessiva. La musica del Dear Hunter è caratterizzata da melodie orecchiabili, testi poetici e arrangiamenti intricati, che spaziano dal rock progressivo al folk, passando per elementi elettronici e classici. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si possono citare "The Color of the End", "Act IV: The Sun and the Moon" e "The World's a Beautiful Place". Crescenzo ha collaborato con numerosi artisti nel corso della sua carriera, tra cui members di bands come The Used e Saosin.
