But I do know my past led me to this moment and

The exciting thing is it's only the beginning

The underpinnings of sadness have alchemized and crystallized in the service
I still feel that horrible, existential, deep, fucking pain, deep sadness
I just don't try to numb it anymore
I don't try to cover it up with drugs or food or sex or fame anymore
I sit right there in the fuckin' thick of it
And it's the courage to feel this
This sadness
It's that courage that makes me who I am
It's what allowed me to write this
It's what makes me a deeper, more real man
It's what allows me to connect with you right now
And all I really want to say to you is I love you
And by you, I don't mean some person from my past or my future, I mean you
You
I know we haven't met
But in some ways, we know each other very, very well
Because you know that horrible, existential, deep pain just as well as I do
And I just want to remind you what I need to remind myself

Sometimes the thing that hurts the most is just how much love you have inside you
You feel like you don't always have a place to put it
You don't know what to do with it
You think the people around you won't appreciate it
So you pretend like you don't have the love and it gets stuck inside you
And love is like water
When it doesn't flow, it gets rancid and turns to poison
It turns to poison
It turns to anger, resentment and hate
And if you're really honest with yourself, your hate is really just love that you didn't express
You got scared
You got scared that if you actually gave all the love you had, that you might run out
You got scared that maybe your love wouldn't be received and it would go to waste
So you throttled down the amount of love you were giving
To match the amount of love you thought you were getting

But come home, silly
You could never run out
And your purpose is not to get love
Your purpose is to give love
I wish you could see yourself right now
Struggling and thriving at the same time
You beautiful thing
I wish you could see how beautiful you are
