Carly Rae Jepsen è una cantautrice canadese nata a Mission, British Columbia, nel 1985. Dopo aver partecipato al reality show Canadian Idol nel 2007, si è dedicata alla scrittura e registrazione di musica, firmando un contratto con Simkin Artist Management e Dexter Entertainment. Il suo album di debutto, *Tug of War*, uscito nel 2008, ha anticipato il successo internazionale con singoli come *Tug of War* e *Call Me Maybe*.
