LCD Soundsystem è il progetto musicale di James Murphy, musicista e produttore statunitense nato a New York. Il gruppo, attivo dal 2002 al 2011 e poi riformato nel 2015, fonde elementi di musica elettronica, indie rock e post-punk, creando un sound unico che ha riscosso grande successo sia tra la critica che il pubblico. Murphy, influenzato da band come The Fall e New Order, è noto per le sue performance energiche e i testi introspettivi che esplorano temi sociali e personali. Tra i brani più rappresentativi di LCD Soundsystem figurano "Losing My Edge", "All My Friends" e "Dance Yrself Clean". L'album di debutto omonimo del 2005 è considerato un classico dell'indie rock contemporaneo, mentre il successivo "Sound of Silver" (2007) ha consolidato la fama del gruppo. Murphy è anche co-fondatore della discografia DFA Records, che supporta artisti indie dance come The Juan MacLean e Hot Chip.
