Behind the wheels of armageddon
Against Me! è una band punk rock formatasi a Gainesville, in Florida, nel 1997. La formazione originale era composta da Laura Jane Grace (voce, chitarra), Chris Conley (chitarra), James Bowman (basso) e Warren Oakes (batteria). La band ha pubblicato il suo primo album completo, *Reinventing Axl Rose*, nel 2002 per l'etichetta No Idea Records. Dopo aver collaborato con diverse altre etichette indipendenti come Misanthrope Records, Crasshole Records e Plan It X Records, Against Me! ha firmato con Sire Records nel dicembre 2005. Il loro album di debutto per la major *New Wave* è uscito il 10 luglio 2007. Nel 2010 hanno pubblicato l'album *White Crosses*, seguito da *Transgender Dysphoria Blues* nel 2014, un disco che ha esplorato le esperienze di Grace come persona transgender. Controverse e influenti, Against Me! sono diventati una voce importante nella scena punk rock contemporanea, con brani iconici come "Pints of Guinness Makes You Strong", "Thrash Unreal" e "Transgender Dysphoria Blues".
