Taking Back Sunday è un gruppo emo statunitense formatosi ad Amityville, New York, nel 1999. La formazione originale comprendeva John Nolan (chitarra), Eddie Reyes (batteria), Fred Mascherino (chitarra) e Adam Lazzara (voce). Il loro sound, caratterizzato da melodie orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e un'energia live intensa, ha contribuito a definire l'emocore degli anni 2000. Il loro album di debutto, *Where You Want to Be*, pubblicato nel 2004, raggiunse la posizione numero 3 nella classifica Billboard 200, consolidando il successo della band. Il loro secondo album, *MakeDamnSure*, uscito nel 2006, ha raggiunto la vetta delle classifiche con oltre 600.000 copie vendute e ha prodotto il singolo di maggior successo della band, "MakeDamnSure", che ha raggiunto la posizione numero 8 nella classifica Alternative Airplay. Nel corso degli anni, Taking Back Sunday ha attraversato diverse fasi di formazione, con cambiamenti nel roster dei membri. Nonostante le difficoltà, la band è riuscita a mantenere un seguito fedele e ad incidere sulla scena musicale emo con album come *New Again* (2009) e *Taking Back Sunday* (2011). I brani più rappresentativi della loro discografia includono "Cute Without the 'E' (Cut From the Team)", "MakeDamnSure", "You're So Last Summer" e "Great Romances of the 21st Century".
