Story of the Year è una rock band americana formatasi a St. Louis, Missouri nel 1995. Inizialmente la band si chiamava 67 North, poi cambiò nome in Big Blue Monkey. Nel 2002, dopo il rilascio dell'EP omonimo su etichetta indipendente Criterion Records, decisero di cambiare nome in Story of the Year, accorgendosi che già esisteva un gruppo blues con lo stesso nome di Big Blue Monkey. Il loro genere musicale è principalmente post-hardcore e alternative rock. Il periodo di attività principale della band è tra il 2001 e il 2016, con una reunion nel 2019. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Anthem", "Sidewalks", e "Until the Day I Die". L'album di debutto "Pageant of the Bizarre" (2003) ha riscosso un grande successo, raggiungendo la posizione numero 48 nella classifica Billboard 200.
