Asleep at the Wheel è una band di musica country/western swing formata a Paw Paw, West Virginia, ma con sede ad Austin, Texas. Fondata nel 1970, il gruppo ha vinto nove Grammy Award e ha pubblicato oltre venti album in studio, con più di venti singoli classificati nelle classifiche Billboard country. Il loro singolo più popolare, «The Letter That Johnny Walker Read», ha raggiunto la posizione numero 10 nel 1975. Asleep at the Wheel è considerata una delle band più influenti del genere western swing, contribuendo a riportare in auge questo stile musicale negli anni '70 e '80. Il loro sound caratteristico combina elementi di country tradizionale, jazz e blues, con un'attenzione particolare all'abilità strumentale dei musicisti.
