Il suo album di debutto, "Man on the Moon: The End of Day", pubblicato nel 2009, è diventato un successo critico e commerciale, consacrandolo come figura chiave della scena musicale contemporanea. Tra i suoi brani più rappresentativi figurano "Day 'n' Nite", "Pursuit of Happiness" e "Soundtrack 2 My Life".
