I Violent Femmes sono un gruppo musicale alternativo rock/country punk statunitense formatosi a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, nel 1980. Composti da Gordon Gano (voce, chitarra), Brian Ritchie (basso, percussioni) e Victor DeLorenzo (batteria), hanno raggiunto fama internazionale con il loro sound unico che fonde elementi di folk, blues e rockabilly. Il loro album d'esordio omonimo del 1983 è diventato un successo underground, grazie a brani come "Blister in the Sun" e "Add It Up". I Violent Femmes sono noti per le performance energiche dal vivo e per la presenza di Gano, con il suo stile vocale distintivo e le sue canzoni spesso introspettive. Tra i loro album più importanti figurano anche "Hallowed Ground" (1985) e "The Blind Leading the Naked" (1989).
