Earl Eugene Scruggs (1924-2012), noto semplicemente come Earl Scruggs, è stato un leggendario musicista statunitense considerato uno dei più influenti suonatori di banjo di tutti i tempi. Nato in Tennessee, Scruggs ha sviluppato il suo stile unico di bluegrass, caratterizzato da una tecnica di picking chiamata "three-finger style". Questo stile, che utilizza tre dita per pizzicare le corde del banjo, ha rivoluzionato la musica bluegrass e ha influenzato generazioni di musicisti. Scruggs è stato un membro fondatore del gruppo The Stanley Brothers e successivamente ha formato il suo trio, Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys.
