Opera IX è un gruppo musicale italiano di black metal sinfonico pagano formatosi nel 1988 dal chitarrista Ossian. Considerati pionieri del genere in Italia, hanno contribuito a definire l'estetica e la sonorità del black metal sinfonico con influenze folk e medievali. La musica di Opera IX è caratterizzata da atmosfere cupe e epiche, riff di chitarra aggressivi e melodie orchestrali che evocano un mondo fantastico e mitologico. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "The Serpent's Crown", "Arise from the Ashes" e "In the Shadow of the Ancient Ones". L'album "Opera IX" (1994) è considerato un punto di riferimento per il genere in Italia.
