Sad songs
Well the good guys keep on getting fucked
While the bastards they have all the luck
Lie and cheat and kill and steal
And smiling wheel and seal the deal
The deal that keeps our days so dark
The deal that keeps our soil so parched
And until that mess gets sorted out
It's what we'd best keep talking about
The night is long and cold the stars don't shine
There's no rage no change and no more time
I like the sad songs
Don't mind the mad ones
Don't get the glad songs but that's alright
I like the sad songs
Don't mind the mad ones
And i'll sing them sad songs all through the night
Better to have tried and failed then never tried at all
Better to have got knocked down than sat with our backs up against the wall
Twenty-five years now come and gone
And I'm still here singing this same sad song
On down the line this is where I'll be
Pissed and dissed and living free
The night is long and cold the stars don't shine
There's no rage no change and no more time
I like the sad songs
Don't mind the mad ones
Don't get the glad songs but that's alright
I like the sad songs
Don't mind the mad ones
And i'll sing them sad songs all through the night
Like the man on the street
With no shoes on his feet
Some things never change
Some things don't explain away
Some things don't fade with light at the end of a long hard day
All my best plans end up fucked up
All your best friends fall down drugged up
And the starved and the raped and the scarred get nothing at all
Nothing at all
In the dry and the dark just waiting for the rain to fall
And waiiting for the sun to shine
But in the meantime
Better to have tried and failed then never tried at all
Better to have got knocked down then sat with our backs up against the wall
Until the sun shines down on the rains
Below and the seeds all start to grow
These sad songs keep on flowing
The night is long and cold the stars don't shine
There's no rage no change and no more time
I like the sad songs
Don't mind the mad ones
Don't get the glad songs but that's alright
I like the sad songs
Don't mind the mad ones
And i'll sing them sad songs all through the night
