The Nightwatchman è il progetto solista di Tom Morello, chitarrista e compositore statunitense noto per le sue collaborazioni con band come Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave e Street Sweeper Social Club. Il nome d'arte si ispira al ruolo storico dei "Night Watchmen", guardie notturne che proteggevano le città dai ladri e dalle minacce. Morello utilizza questo progetto per esprimere la sua passione per la musica folk americana e per affrontare temi sociali e politici con un approccio diretto e incisivo. Le sue canzoni sono caratterizzate da testi poetici, melodie accattivanti e una forte componente di protesta. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "The Nightwatchman", "First Day of My Life" e "Burn It Down".
