The way that you call, the way that you call out quietly
What did you learn? What did you learn from loving me?
To move in the world, to move in the world more graciously
Your promised return, your promised return ain’t much to me
But letting you down, letting you down was hell for me
The colours of love, the colour of us was gold and green
The peace and the birds, the peace and the birds don’t visit me
I was winning once, but that’s been and gone
I was playing with the fire that you made for me
What we running from?
I couldn’t hold you for the last time and then l?t you go
Standing at the turnstile, you looked so alon?
Oh, to be someone you rely on
A hill that we can die on, wait up with the light on
Don’t wanna know this life without you, I’m not strong enough
You turn and close your eyes ‘cause you can’t even look
Losing someone to rely on
A hill that we could die on, wait up with the light on
Let me believe, let me believe we’ll last the night
What do we need? ‘Cause there ain’t much left to sacrifice
But I gotta breathe, I better breathe to save my mind
I was winning once, but that’s been and gone
I was playing with the fire that you made for me
What we running from?
I couldn’t hold you for the last time and then let you go
Standing at the turnstile, you looked so alone
Oh, to be someone you rely on
A hill that we can die on, wait up with the light on
Don’t wanna know this life without you, I’m not strong enough
You turn and close your eyes ‘cause you can’t even look
Losing someone to rely on
A hill that we could die on, wait up with the light on
I’ll admit it once
Then I’ll hold my tongue
I was clutching at the dream that you’d stay with me
And the truth beloved
Is you’ll always run
Back and forth in my mind every day you breathe
I was winning once, but that’s been and gone
I was playing with the fire that you made for me
What we running from?
I couldn’t hold you for the last time and then let you go
Standing at the turnstile, you looked so alone
Oh, to be someone you rely on
A hill that we can die on, what up with the light on
Don’t wanna know this life without you, I’m not strong enough
You turn and close your eyes ‘cause you can’t even look
Losing someone to rely on
A hill that we could die on, wait up with the light on
Wait up with the light on
