Cruisin' the strip,
Too young for the bars,
Lookin' for change,

Dodgin' the cops,
We were up to no good,

Better judgment went south with a few sips of alcohol.

Kept a knife in my pocket cause I thought I could handle myself.

I went off to school,
Found a new set of friends,
I used better drugs,
to help me fit in.

I'd skip every class,
Atleast two days a week,
I didn't need a lecture,
Near as much as the sleep.

When the sex, drugs, and music only gave me the blues.

I tried to change but it wadn't no use, the more that I said I quit,
the more I abused.

and He set me straight,
and said you reap what you sow boy, but it ain't too late to repent,
Oh, there might be hope for you yet.

Jefferson bound,
I headed back home,
Turns out my teachers and preachers,
Were right all along.

I settled down,
Got two crazy kids,
And I hope they'll do what I say,
and not what I did.
