If we didn't get it done on Friday night six more were there right after that
If it wasn't going down at Chet's Last Call then it was going down at the Rat
If you didn't make it out It made no sense
None of us would ever stay inside
They couldn't keep us pinned when we were to the wind
They couldn't stop us even if they tried
You had to be there
You just had to be to believe
There's no way around it or two ways about
You had to be th?re
You just had to be to beli?ve
And I can't describe it, you had to be there
If we weren't who we were then who would we become?
Is that a foolish thing to think about?
It might be just because that's just the way it was
And obvious whenever we were out
If we didn't have each other what would we have done?
How would we have made it day to day?
If we didn't go together where would we have gone?
We weren't going any other way
You had to be there
You just had to be to believe
There's no way around it or two ways about
You had to be there
You just had to be to believe
And I can't describe it, you had to be there
When it was up and running, there was nothing like it
There's nothing to compare it to
It was madness and magic and we had to have it
I don't have to tell that to you
You're well aware because we were both there
Back when we at least thought we were free
It was racing through us and everything to us
And it was where you had to be
One, two, one, two
You had to be there
You had to be there
You had to be there
You had to be there
(You had to be there)
If we didn't get it done on Friday night six more were there right after that (You had to be there)
If it wasn't going down at Chet's Last Call then it was going down at the Rat (You had to be there)
If we didn't have each other what would we have done?
How would we have made it day to day? (You had to be there)
If we didn't go together where would we have gone?
We weren't going any other way
You had to be there
Con un sound energico e testi spesso ironici, i Bosstones hanno conquistato una fanbase internazionale grazie a brani come «The Impression That I Get», «Where’d You Go?», «Someday I Suppose» e «I Don’t Wanna Be Around».
